Sewer Use Bylaw Review

Sewer Use Bylaw Review

Craft breweries are encouraged to get involved and provide input on regulatory changes which could have significant impact on their operations.

Metro Vancouver, or more specifically the Greater Vancouver Sewerage & Drainage District, has published an issue paper regarding proposed changes to its Sewer Use Bylaw No. 299, 277. The changes being considered would impact commercial fermentation operations including breweries by requiring that certain monitoring and sampling process be implemented, and solids removed from, discharge destined for sanitary sewers.

Metro Vancouver is currently in the consultation stage so now is the time for stakeholders to get involved. The issue paper and information about providing comments can be provided here.

The current bylaw is available here. Comments must be submitted before December 1, 2014. A draft bylaw is currently anticipated for the spring of 2015.
