Big Beer in Little China
As craft breweries experience an ever-increasing share of the domestic market, it’s always worthwhile to note what’s going on in the rest of the world. Particularly in China, which has been the world’s largest beer market in volume since 2002 (now twice as large as the US), and expected to take over as the world’s richest country in two years.
Here’s a recent update from Quartz. Interestingly, of the five largest beer brands in the country, only one is fully owned by foreign companies, with China Resources’ Snow beer topping the list at 12.1 billion liters sold. Just imagine that the next time you fill up those growlers!
